Together We Do Make a Difference

In the last seventy years DCCW has touched the lives of over 300,000 under-privileged children in and around Delhi, through its programmes and services - providing a home for lost / abandoned children, medical care, nutrition, rehabilitation of special needs children, vocational training and facilitating education. This is no mean feat. It has only been made possible by partnering with people and institutions who believe they can bring about a change in the lives of these children, helping them achieve their potential and go on to lead productive lives.

Our flagship programme centre at Janakpuri, New Delhi, which served over 200 under-privileged children on a daily basis, is requiring a complete rebuild due to structural issues.

This is the most serious setback DCCW has ever faced. It is impossible to for us to complete this project without the support of all our well-wishers.

Our Programmes

PalnaTM

PALNA TM (which means cradle as well as nurture) is our home for abandoned, homeless and destitute children. It is possibly our most well-known programme. Established in 1978, it is located in Qudsia Bagh, Old Delhi, and is a haven of peace, stability and happiness for the children who come here.

Bal Chetna

Bal Chetna, our respite home and day-care facility for mentally challenged children was started in 2002 and today comprises residential facilities at Palna TM, and day-care facilities and rehabilitation therapies for special needs children from economically backward families at centres in slums and resettlement colonies across Delhi.

PALNA WeeKids

The aim of this programme is top prepare young, underprivileged children in the age group 2 to 6 years to attend mainstream schools, and the results to date have been excellent. The centres focus on the child's physical, mental, emotional and social development.

EDUCATIONAL SPONSORSHIP

The Educational Sponsorship Programme provides financial support to academically bright children from low-income families who are otherwise be forced to drop out of school from economic compulsions. About 1,000 children receive sponsorship every year.

SUPERVISED HOMEWORK SCHEME

The objective of this programme is to reach out to underprivileged children who would otherwise drop out of school for not being able to keep up with school-work. The programme has been ongoing from 1958 and it is aimed at school-going children in the age group of 6 to 13 years, and has over 200 children enrolled.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Started in 1976, this programme is run for girls from underprivileged families of resettlement colonies and the urban slums of Delhi. It operates at 13 centres, empowering over 650 young participants with skills and practical competencies for the job market, every year.
